VEDIT / Your privacy

Privacy policy

Effective September 9, 2026

VEDIT is operated by Matthew Gonzalez. This policy explains how the VEDIT iOS beta and vedit.media handle information.

The default editing flow runs on your device. There is no VEDIT account or cloud project library. Some actions, described below, involve Apple or other services.

1. Videos, recordings, and projects

VEDIT stores imported or recorded media, transcripts, edit decisions, project titles, and exports in its local app storage. Transcription, default cut decisions, playback, and rendering run on-device. VEDIT does not upload video or audio to an editing server.

Recording segments are stored locally during a session. Discarded recordings are removed; confirmed recordings become part of a local project. Recording does not automatically save a copy to Photos. Files may be included in device backups according to your Apple backup settings.

2. Permissions and your choices

You can change camera, microphone, and Photos permissions in iOS Settings. Denying camera access does not require you to upload footage; you can use available import options instead.

3. Automatic titles

On supported devices with Apple Intelligence available, VEDIT uses Apple's on-device language model to suggest a title from the speech retained in your edit. This feature does not send your transcript to a server or require an API key. Suggested titles are saved with the project and remain editable. If a usable transcript or model is unavailable, the default name is retained. A name you enter yourself is not replaced automatically.

4. Transcription model downloads

First use of a transcription model downloads model files from Hugging Face. That service receives the network request, including your IP address. Your footage and transcript are not included in that download request. Downloaded model files are excluded from device backups and can be downloaded again. See Hugging Face's privacy policy.

5. Optional cloud edit suggestions

The LLM edit decisions setting is off by default. If you enable it for Polish cut and supply your own Anthropic API key, VEDIT sends transcript text to Anthropic to request edit suggestions. Transcripts may contain names or other personal information spoken in a recording. Requests use your Anthropic account and are subject to that service's terms and retention practices. Best Takes does not use this cloud pass.

Your key is stored in the iOS Keychain. Disable the setting to keep edit decisions local. Clear and save the key in Settings to remove it. See Anthropic's privacy information. Do not enable this option for content you are not authorized to share with that service.

6. Sharing, support, and diagnostics

Exports leave the app through actions you initiate, such as sharing or saving to Photos. The app has no advertising or tracking SDK, and no remote analytics provider is configured. Navigation events are logged locally.

Apple may provide us with TestFlight feedback, screenshots you submit, crash reports, and related diagnostic or tester information through its beta service. See Apple's TestFlight privacy information. If you email us for beta access or support, we receive your email address and the information you choose to include. We use it to respond, manage invitations, and investigate issues. Please avoid sending sensitive footage unless it is necessary and you intend to share it.

7. Website and linked services

The VEDIT website is hosted by Netlify. Hosting requests can include IP address, requested URL, browser details, and technical logs needed to deliver and secure the site. See Netlify's privacy policy. The editor homepage and this policy do not add advertising trackers or analytics cookies.

Links to LEVELATE, community platforms, Apple, or other websites take you to services with their own privacy practices. Sending an email uses your chosen email provider. The earlier VEDIT platform overview remains linked separately; its proposed marketplace and subscription features are not accounts or services implemented in the iOS beta.

8. Retention and deletion

Local project data remains until you delete it or remove the app, subject to device backups. Deleting a project removes its app-owned files; it does not delete originals from Photos or Files, exported copies, or copies shared with other services. Manage those copies and backups separately. Keychain entries should be cleared in the app before uninstalling if you want to remove a saved API key.

We retain support correspondence and beta feedback only as needed to respond, operate the beta, resolve issues, and meet applicable obligations. Third-party retention is governed by the relevant provider. You can request access, correction, or deletion of information you have sent us by contacting us below. We cannot access or remotely delete projects stored only on your device.

9. Additional information

VEDIT does not sell your personal information or use it for cross-app advertising. The beta is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly request their personal information. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information to us. Information sent to external providers may be processed in countries other than yours under their privacy practices.

We may update this policy as the app changes. The effective date above identifies the latest version. This policy describes the current beta, not a promise of future features.
